Thacker Mountain
Thacker Mountain Radio is a live, unrehearsed broadcast that features author readings and a wide array of musical performances.
The FREE show is taped and broadcast every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. during the fall and spring before an audience of 200, who are seated in wooden chairs inside Off Square Books. Visit the show at 129 Courthouse Square in Oxford, Mississippi. Tune into the live broadcast on Rebel Radio 92.1 FM, or listen to the rebroadcast on Saturdays on Mississippi Public Radio at 7 p.m.
Host – Jim Dees has hosted Thacker Mountain Radio since 2000. He writes the weekly newspaper column, Lies and Other Truths, and is the editor of They Write Among Us, an anthology of Oxford writers.
Producer – Carol Mockbee joined the show in 2009. In addition to directing and overseeing production, she books music for the show. While she is a native Mississippian, she spent several years in rural Alabama where she designed and built the underground memorial, Subrosa Pantheon
